Grok Video Generation - Overview#
Doc version:v1.0.0 | Last updated:2026-06-11This platform fully supports the Grok (xAI) official video generation API. Requests and responses are transparently proxied; parameter semantics are identical to the official API.
Overview#
Grok Video Generation supports the following task types:| Task Type | Endpoint | Description |
|---|
| Text-to-Video | POST /grok/v1/videos/generations | Generate video from a text prompt. |
| Image-to-Video | POST /grok/v1/videos/generations | Generate video using an input image as the first frame, combined with a text prompt. |
| Reference-to-Video | POST /grok/v1/videos/generations | Guide video generation visual style with 1-7 reference images (character identity, product appearance, wardrobe, art style, etc.) — reference images are not used as the first frame. |
| Video Editing | POST /grok/v1/videos/edits | Edit an existing video — add/replace objects, modify scenes, etc. |
| Video Extension | POST /grok/v1/videos/extensions | Continue generating from the last frame of an existing video to extend its duration. Supports chaining — feed the output back as input for longer sequences. |
| Query Task | GET /grok/v1/videos/{request_id} | Poll task status and results |
Video generation is asynchronous: creating a task returns a request_id. Poll the query endpoint for status; on success, the response contains a video download URL (valid for 24 hours) — download or transfer promptly.Standard Workflow#
Create Task (POST https://platform.dataeyes.ai/grok/v1/videos/generations)
│ Returns request_id
▼
Query Status (GET https://platform.dataeyes.ai/grok/v1/videos/{request_id}) ← Poll until done
│ Returns video.url
▼
Download Video
Endpoint Address#
Path Rule:Append the channel prefix /grok after the platform domain, then add the official API path.
Official: https://api.x.ai/v1/videos/generations
→ Platform: https://platform.dataeyes.ai/grok/v1/videos/generations
Authentication#
All requests use a Bearer Token in the HTTP Authorization header:Authorization: Bearer {API_KEY}
{API_KEY} is the API key created in your platform dashboard.| Header | Required | Description |
|---|
Authorization | Yes | Bearer {API_KEY} |
Content-Type | Yes | Fixed as application/json |
Model#
Grok Video Generation uses the following model:| Model | Description |
|---|
grok-imagine-video | Grok video generation model, supporting text-to-video, image-to-video, reference-to-video, video editing, and video extension |
Task Status Values#
| Status | Meaning |
|---|
pending | Processing |
done | Completed |
failed | Failed |
expired | Expired |
All endpoints use a unified asynchronous response pattern:Create Task Response — returns request_id for polling:{
"request_id": "string"
}
Query Task Response — returns task status and video data:{
"status": "done",
"video": {
"url": "string",
"duration": 10,
"respect_moderation": true
},
"model": "grok-imagine-video"
}
Video download URLs are valid for 24 hours. Please download or transfer promptly.
